Fish Shops - Sheffield

Hey all

going on my first big look at all the fish shops in sheffield with my mom and dad

so far i got

fish inc
elm lane aquatics
blue ocean
aqua hobby

Sheffield aquatics is my lfs so not going there

please help me add to my list

Blue Ocean is what used to be Aqua Hobby. The guy sold his premises, moved somewhere bigger and re-opened with a new name. So you can strike aquahobby off. I've heard good things about Blue Ocean and the guy who owns it genuinely cares about the fish aswell as about selling them. Only negative is that I think they focus on marines, great if you keep marines, not as good if you have tropicals.

I avoid Sheffield Aquatics like the plague. The tanks/stock are normally 'ok', but the guys there do my head in. They don't care about the fish at all, it's just about the profits. Also they're pretty sexist, whenever I ever asked questions they always replied over my head to my boyfriend/dad (whoever I was with). Bearing in mind I was 16/17 at the time so not exactly a kid...

Can't comment on Elm Lane Aquatics cause I've never been there.

Fish INC is great, definitely my top recommendation!

yeah sheffield aquatics has started doing my head in they talk down to me like im some inept 5 year old lol hence the big checking out fish shop day

i have got a different address for aqua hobby than blue ocean (been there before its great just to look at all the marine fish! ) so maybe there was 2?

^^ AquaHobby doesn't exist anymore. The guy who owned Aquahobby sold it, bought bigger premises and re-opened as Blue Ocean.

Not that I can think of that I'd recommend... I basically get any fish from people or FishINC (although strictly speaking I'm now keeping shrimp and I ordered them online.
Everything hardware is also normally from classifieds, ebay/online shops. I feel a bit bad not supporting my local suppliers but then at the same time plenty of people DO, so that's fine

ok thanks for your help ill check the 3 i have out but looking forward to fish inc most

and i buy most my harddware second hand or new from ebay and here lfs prices are way to steap so i support them by buying fish lol

I read in addmag newspaper that fish inc is going marine and they have more tanks setup around the shop mainly in the new section where all the cichlids and goldfish are. Its the best place I have been to so far and they have a big variety of fish including rare type. Really nice people there and very polite Thats where I got my congo tinanti cichlid from but sadly he was the only one left and they couldn't get anymore of them in. When you go there can you ask them please if they have them in or if they are stocking them in soon and when, then please reply back to me.

didz im so sorry i did not read you thing before i went i would have asked if i had read it sorry but i did not see any in

ok reviews of the shops in my opinion

elm lane aquatics: nice small traditional fish shop some bits and bobs up front and a few fish tanks in the back had some really nice black knife fish

blue ocean: great if you have salt water fish a bit pants if you have tropical for some reason did not seem as friendly as it first opened but i like it just to go see the lovely fishies

Fish inc: THE BEST SHOP IN THE WORLD they had cockatoo cichlids!! woo got some finally : also got 10 neons acclimitsing them in the tank now.

also the guy knocked me £3.90 off because he forgot how much the calculator said got them for £20 instead of £23.90

it looked tiny from the front then when we went in it just kept getting bigger and bigger i have a new favourite shop all the fish looked fine and not one dead fish in sight

Yup, Fish INC is easily the best fish shop in Sheffield

Lol, I did yes. I looked at all the tropicals and was then like...errr there are more tanks? I might pop over today/tomorrow. I have a voucher for £6 from feb that I really should spend soon...
