Ok to start i bst give you a quick rundown of whats been happening with the fish. ...About 3 weeks back they got the ICH i treated them for that but lost a couple in the process,i added aquarium salts to the water and this seemd to help the meds work better.
I do a weekly water change and clean up the pebbles of fish poo, which i have done as normal this week.Itest my water regular, which i have done again thismorning, all my perams seem fine except my nitrite which has risen to 0.25.My fish are just resting on the bottom of the tank and not doing much swimming about, and one of them has seemd to stop eating.I must have done something wrong but dont know what, this has been going on for a couple of days now.
What should i do ?please can you help?
Sue :(

Hi again Sue,

Sorry to hear you are having more problems with your tank. I don't tihnk you should be reading any nitrIte at all if your tank is cycled. I thought you didn't have a weather loach anymore? I don't know how good they are with salts so you might want to be careful with that.

Do they show any other signs of stress? Clamped fins/breathing rapidly etc. Did you do a larger water change than usualy when you cleaned your tank? Perhaps they are getting used to the change (but I don't think it should be for this long) or you have started a mini-cycle by removing some good bacteria with your change.

HTH for now

Hi again,i didnt know fish keeping could be so damn stressfull LOL.
i forgot to update my sig but have done it now,i did loose my weather loach and a moor.
Anyway,i only did a 30% water change which is what i normally do i also dechlorinated the fresh water.
The fish arnt breathing rapidly but their fins look a little limp if you know what i mean.Maybe i have caused a mini cycle , the nitrite has deffo gone up a bit.So next question ....what should i do?

Hmmmm

I am not really sure in all honesty Sue, I wish I knew. I think you shoukd ask in the emergency or beginner forums and put all this thread to save you having to repeat yourself.

I have never actually knowingly cycled a tank before  So I am not the best to help you with any mini-cycles.
