Why are mbuna so mean?

Well, i would assume it's because their Lake is so over populated. With that many fish, there is only soo much food and space. So, you have to beat the crap outta everyone else to survive ( just a guess)

Just to let you know Kj, i did awsner your question.

I honestly couldn't tell you the Scientific name with out google.

I was just looking for a general answer, like I gave. Most people wouldn't know, unless they are into A. cichlids. But I believe that's why they are naturally aggress for the very reason you gave. The whole lake isn't rocky. The males have to protect their little territory in order to breed w/females and feed. That's why in some tanks, even males from a different species will stop other males from breeding.

Go ahead and GOOGLE!!!!

That's how we learn and why I'm asking the qestions that general fish keepers won't know. Broaden horizons :good:

GOOGLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

True Snowflake Eel: Echidna nebulosa

I get to ask a question. How many species of Kribensis are there? What are their names?

Genus pelvicachromis contains 6 fish (I think), most common being pelvicachromis pulchra, others I don't know. All of them are less amusing than apistogramma (personal note :p).

What pleco families do most of the commonly named "clown plecos" belong to?

Pelvicachromis humilis (Steindachner, 1866).
Pelvicachromis pulcher (Boulenger, 1901).
Pelvicachromis roloffi (Thys van den Audenaerde, 1968).
Pelvicachromis rubrolabiatus Lamboj, 2004.
Pelvicachromis signatus (Lamboj, 2004).
Pelvicachromis subocellatus (Günther, 1872).
Pelvicachromis taeniatus (Trewavas, 1935).

Panaque

seems I was off by 1 species :(...

It's not just panaque ;), but close enough... there are many peckoltias, panaque and pseudancistrus that are commonly sold under the name of clown pleco - common names are useless :). Your turn

There are more than that. Im being tricky. I wan't the Color morphs as well.

EXAMPLE: Pelvicachromis Taeniatus " Moliwe"

Nice Job though Kj

Pelvicachromis sp. "Blue Fin"
Pelvicachromis pulcher Krib
Pelvicachromis rubrolabiatus
Pelvicachromis signatus
Pelvicachromis subocellatus
Pelvicachromis taeniatus
Pelvicachromis taeniatus "Wouri"
Pelvicachromis taeniatus (Kienke)
Pelvicachromis taeniatus (Nyete)
That's all I got, Krib :p

Whats the scientific name of the false snowflake eel?

Pelvicachromis sp. "Blue Fin"
Pelvicachromis pulcher
Pelvicachromis rubrolabiatus
Pelvicachromis signatus
Pelvicachromis subocellatus
Pelvicachromis taeniatus
Pelvicachromis taeniatus "Wouri"
Pelvicachromis taeniatus (Kienke)
Pelvicachromis taeniatus (Nyete)
