Well, all righty, thens; I bought a filter for Mr. Wimpy Fish today. We're planning to divide his tank up into two parts -- unfortunately, *AGAIN* this week no particular Bettas have caught my eye. :(

Well, it's the Tetra Whisper Internal Filter for 2 - 10 gallons. The 1 - 3 gallons one runs on an airpump. T_T; Sooooo, we're still looking for a 3-way splitter for my outlet, but, in the mean-times, that filter is currently sitting (not plugged in) in the tank. ^^; It hangs on the back.

Well, it *was* supposed to come with a sponge, but it only came with the carbon. T_T; That sucks, sooooo.... We're going to buy a sponge for it, laters. Well, anyways, I have some questions about how to do fish-in cycling *RIGHT*.... I *WAS* going to stick him in the breeding trap in the 10-gallon, and just put a platy or two in the tank and wait for it to cycle.... Unfortunately, that's not going to happens -- I already am using my breeding trap for some guppy fry (well, actually, feeder guppy fry, but still.... CUTE!!!! :3), sooooo.... Unless I can buy another one pretty soon (which, I probably might); thens.... Well, I'm *kinda* going to have to fish-in cycle with HIM. D:<

1. Is a 10 - 20 % (shouldn't be hard) water change enough to do, every day?

2. What happens if he gets ammonia poisoning? What's a good plan of action to take? Should I put him in my 10-gallon in a breeding trap (I WILL BUY ANOTHER ONE!!!!), to heal....? :/

And.... That's about it. Hope it wasn't too confusing to read! x3 My OCD is acting ups. T_T;

It sounds like you already have tanks with mature filters. Could you not take out some of the media from those to help with the process? You didn't say what you were doing with the fish you were planning to put in the tank, but if it's possible, leave the fish where is for now (presumably sharing a tank?) and clone the bacteria from one of your mature filters by jamming the new sponge in with the old media.

Okay, so, basically; what you're saying is that I should stick the new sponge in with the old sponge (I hope it'll fit....), and just wait a while (how long? Should a month be good?), and just leave Mr. Wimpy Fish where he is at the moment? :) I can do that. ^^;
