Hi,

Today i went to local fish shop.

And seen a fish in a fish bag on the grass at the front off shop and we waited near it for at least 30mins, and no one claimed it.

So we decided to take it home, and would love someone to ID it for me.

Heres two pictures off it, thanks

never seen anything like that before, you sure its freshwater as it looks marine to me??
have you let it go in your tank? if so what is it acting like? you should be able to smell the water and tell if its salt or fresh. if it is salt water i would suggest you take it back to the shop as it won't last very long in either the bag or a fresh water tank!

Too be honest iam not sure, and no its still in its bag, its probs best take back then.

I will see if it smells like salty water now, if not will it be tropical? and ok to release into tank with guppies and neons?

I hope someone can identify it please, thanks

No clue, but do you think you should take stuff off the LFS counter that clearly doesnt belong to you?

It was outside unattended and looked tropical.

What setup would it require????? salt setup?

can anyone quide me to setup a tank for it? and how much marine salt will i need in the tank?

Hope someone can help, thanks

Your best of taking it back mate. Theres a few bits and bobs you would need to buy, and would have to give it 4 weeks atleast before putting any fish in.

The shop was closed.... and was outside.... and is closed till tomorrow.....

Would i be able mix a bit of warmish water with salt????? for now and put in small tank???

With old water and a bit of water from another tank?????

Whats best??? anyhelp please???

Try asking in the marine section, but i would have thought not.

get a large magerine tub float it in your tank and add the water from the bag if you have one add a small internal

take a small bit of water and put in a small pot eg (tealite candles) and evaperate of a hob or lighter and if theres salt residue after its alt if not its water

Next time i will leave it in the bag outside a closed shop.....?

Also whats best way to have this surviving, it does seem to be salt?

And no tank setup, would the water its in be ok with a little warmish tank water aswell?

with filter and heater?

someone help me out a little please so i can help keep him alive till shop opens tomorrow, thanks

no

id put it in a tub floating in your tank with only bag water and the heat wil transfer and ad a small internal

were abouts are you located as i have a 100 gallon marine if he is salt

You will probally find someone didnt want anymore, took it and dumped it outside shop, didnt even bother to check if shop would open,i bet thats what happened, others realease into waterways, well done for taking it home :good:
get on search, iam going to steal the pick and check elsewhere

Wigan, UK????

Will any fresh water kill it? or will the bag water and a little tank water with a itnernal and heater?

Or is it best to just keep it the marine salty water in a small tub?

Please help, thanks
