I am at my witts end

since i added easycarbo to my tank, my fish have been struggling! i have now just found all 3 of my brand new apistos and 1 julii cory dead. The other fish are lethargic, my pk bettas fins are clamped, other corys are not as active and the khulis are lit sluggish.

I dunno what to do, everything is 0, mins nitrate, which is 0.5 but this has happened since adding that #41#### plant feed! i followed the instructions, well, only a tiny bit in, around a qtr of what it says per 38ltrs.

i've done a 50% water change, can't change any further as i need dechlorinated.

not my day at all, one of my rats is costing £140 to amputate qtr of it's tail and now this!!!

HELP, PLEASE!

Get an air stone, create some surface movement and that'll increase the O2 in the water. Do 10% daily changes to keep the water fresh. Have you done anything other than add EasyLife EasyCarbo or is that the only change in routine. It may be you have been unfortunate and your appisto's have brought something new into the tank. It does seem a little strange to me though.

I'm sorry to hear this Beth :(

oh my god I am so sorry....esp the lost of your new babies - -

is there any way you can get more dechlorinator??
or maybe take every single tuperware and container in your house and start filling it with water to let sit out?

I am so sorry...I cannot think anything except clean clean water....

:-( so sorry hun

i would say it was the apistos not the easycarbo.... lots of people including myself dose with easycarbo daily. did you quarentine the new fish first?

Sorry for your loss, such a shame...

I use easycarbo too with my cockatoos and they're ok

i left them in a tank for about 9hrs before adding them to the tank, maybe it was my fault then  i didn't put the water from their bag, into my tank

I don't see what you mean, you didn't acclimatise them? or did for 9 hours

its best to get a small tank for quarentine purposes, it doesnt need to be fancy just a plain tank with cycled filter and heater. no substrate and maybe a fake plant or 2, job done. this way you can keep an eye on any new purchases for a minimum of 2 weeks before adding to your main tank. if they need treatment then only they get it and your other fish arent stressed by the meds.

i dont think they would do anything except replace the apistos and going on whats happened i wouldnt want any more fish from them unless i had a quarentine tank.....

maybe your next purchase.... a q/tank. unless you can get to leicester as i have a spare you can have :good:

awww thankyou but i don't drive
well if your ever up this way give me a shout as its in the garage empty and im already running a q/tank full of cardinals....
i have 2 and they are up for sale but nobody seems interested so it saves smashing it up if someone can make use of it :)
