Fish Are Dying Off Fast!

The stingray filter you had in your other tank and have moved to this one....is it ok to cope with the higher water volume ??

That ammonia needs ridding of. Sounds like the filter can't handle the new bioload...

i've got the stingray with a sponge box filter too, been water changing every other day, no issue until i added easycarbo and then it all went down hill.

bettas are looking better, fingers crossed i find them all there when i get up in the morning. although, i kind of think the older pk's may not pull through.

the filter should be ok, with the airstone, stingray and sponge box filter. tomorrow, i'm getting more dechlor and gonna gut that tank out!

this morning is looking better, i still have all 9 bettas, feed them and they all came up for food. found 1 dead khuli which looked to have skin peeling off but was expecting 2 to go from last night.

i find it strange that i added easycarbo around 12pm and soon after, i have a mass die off. yes, i added the apistos yesterday but they were absolutely fine, until the fert went in. i think, for my own piece of mind, i won't be adding easycarbo again.

water stats;

ph: 8
nitrite: 0
ammonia: 0
nitrate: 5

It is so highly unlikely that it was the fert. loads of folks use it and ive never heard of a similar situation from dosing easycarbo. as mentioned a few times, it was likely the apistos. either they brought in some nasty or another or the filter simply cant keep up with the increased bioload just yet and you have a minicycle. just keep testing and water changing. really thats all you can do at the moment unless the fish have obvious symptoms. you cant treat for something you dont know. other than the shedding khuli loach, any other symptoms? are the remaining fish scratching? bloated? red streaks in the body or fins? excess mucous? gasping at the surface or other rapid breathing? watch their toilet habits and keep on the lookout for other external parasites such as ich, velvet or flukes.
what a shame. i hope you get it sorted.
cheers

i think the khuli shedding was most likely to do with it maybe being dead for a while?

there are no other symptoms, toilet habits and coloration is normal, bettas are eating better, remaining khulis are swimming about, found 2 dead amanos under rocks, when i was poking about earlier  but i think it is over with now (fingers crossed).

added another sponge filter this afternoon, so i am hoping it balances out but fish seem to be on the up.

the breeding assures me it wasn't his fish and that it was caused solely by me (i never asked for money back, just wanted to tell him, so thathe could maybe do something about his fish)......shame that i lost half a tank, miss those corys

I'm so glad things are looking better today Beth. What an awful situation for you to of been in. Keep us posted on how things are going. x

sorry to hear you lost more fish Beth..... a few good water changes should sort it out, good luck :good:

Thankyou x

no more casualties this afternoon and bettas are looking healthier :good:
