Fish Advice For A Sand And Stone Tank

Hello all,

I'm looking at redoing my fish tank from a gravel wood and planted tank to a plan sand bed with stone / rock, with very few or no plants. The tank size is 90cm X 40cm X 30cm. I'm looking at keeping some kuli loaches, but for the main fish I am not sure what to have in there. I know I don't want any timid fish in there, as that is what I have at the moment and they constantly hide whenever i got to watch them.

Any advice on fish that would suit this set up would be appreciated so that I can refine my search for fish better.

The tank size is 90cm X 40cm X 30cm, not very big.

As fpr the PH level, I am not sure. I have not checked it in a long time.

Not sure sizewise, but you could certainly go for some shell-dwellers. But you must have a high pH and have hard water for these.

shellies would be great. once settled in, they're definately not shy, mine bite me if my hand gets too close to their shell

Thankyou for the advice, I'll have to look at my PH level and see if i need to raise it. Anyway have a link to "Shellies" or names?

best bet would be have a look at at the african cichlids area for more idea. "Shellies" are shell dwelling cichlids from lake tanganyika, basically dwarf cichlids that inhabit empty snail shells for cover.

Shell dwellers include:
Neolamprologus Brevis

Neolamprologus multifasciatus

lamprologus ocellatus

lamprologus ornatipinnis

lamprologus calliurus

theres loads more, unfortunately none of them have common names!

The ones I most often come accross in shops are Brevis. Ideally need hard water with a high pH. Great fun to watch though with bags of personality.
