First Scaping Attempt

I guess just suck it and see, if it dies I'll replace it with stargrass because that loves Excel, growing like mad in my other tank :shifty:

Stargrass grows no matter what you do but with the addition of a carbon source and decent lighting it grows like a weed ;). If you happen to have any spare at any point, i can always take it off your hands :good:.

Do you know much about the Hydro sp. Japan? Requirements and stuff, never used any before but it seems to be a nice plant to use in scapes like I want :/

It's a little more demanding than normal hydro but it can still grow rapidly given the right conditions, good low/medium light and co2 is pretty much all it needs. Obviously more light and pressurised co2 would be better but it really isn't necessary with this plant :good:

I only have a little bit at the moment but it is growing gradually, probably take a while to have enough for cuttings as I only recieved a few short stems :/

I'll give it a bash then, my lighting isn't half bad and I don't mind dosing the tank, just don't want pressurised on it when the tanks out in the kitchen :/ Plus its just more cost that I can't really spare at the moment so low tech all the way for me lol

No worries mate, not in any rush anyways, it will probably be for the next tank so could be a while off yet lol... if you do happen to have any at any point, give us a shout with what you want for it ;)

Should be fine with your setup mate :good:

Awesome, you have first refusal on any cuttings I don't need :good:

Hopefully mate, just need to find a nice cheap pot of it to have a go, may start my moss carpet in a sec, need to think of how I wanna do it, shape etc

Cheers mate :good: and goodluck with the carpet :good:

Had a little go at making some small carpets up so I can rearrange them as and when I please once in the tank:

Just need to weigh them down but i'll do that tomorrow

Looks good mate. I agree about the wood though, you need more of a focal point.

Yeah I keep looking at it with a kind of :/ expression trying to work out what I want to go where lol.

More wood either replacing or with the old wood with my stone around the base and more crypts, then the moss on the right with hydro sp. Japan at the back.

That SHOULD be enough for now but who knows with this hobby huh?

Not to self promote or anything, but I do have a nice piece of spare bogwood that would look great in your tank. It is an arch shaped piece with a footprint of around 30 x 20cm. I used to have it in my 180l before I upgraded. I am at work at the moment but will take a pic when I get home if you like.

Yes please, would be great thanks :good:

Do you know what type of wood it is?

Unsure sorry but it is the same type as the pieces in my 300l tank. I entered it into tank of the month last month, here is the link:

Look forward to pictures of the wood, could be interested before forking out loads at aquaessentials :good:

Was a bargainous £3 for a decent size portion so snapped it up on eBay :good:

I too can't wait to get it in there along with my attempt at a carpet, its a little sparsely spread over the mesh, just hope it doesn't look a bit silly in there
