Firemouth,angel,kissing Gourami

I would also considering upping the amount of your water change from 10% to 25-30 once the tank is stable.

also the inch of fish thing never used that and think that it is a useless espically when dealing with cichlids. might work with guppies and platies but not with bigger fish. and as I said I would up the amount of my water changes as big fish require big wc's I do 50% weekly on all my tanks espically my large cichlids.

Oh well mate i think your wrong, sorry.

A firemouth and a Angel would not be alot of waste, not compared to keeping Oscars,Jaguars,Devils etc which i have kept before and yes,had to do big water changes.

32 gallon is more than enough for those 3 fish and 5 barbs.

I'm not getting the other Gourami now after a bit of reading.

And no its not like keeping a 4" Platy, its like keeping a 6" Firemouth.

thats fine that you think I am wrong, but I still think that your WCs are too small, a 10% weekly WC isn't going to handle your fish in that small of a tank. on top of that Fms are just as dirty as devils, jags,O's and every other large aggro cichlid, maybe I am wrong I don't have a breeding set up with 5 of them in my living room or nothing. on top of that your set up is going to be from my understanding a Kissing Gourami, a FM, and an Angel, which all three of those fish when grown will be very substantial fish on top of that 5 barbs, and removing the waste with only 10%!!!! not a chance.

It sounds to me like your getting bored with your tank..... In my personal opinion after setting up your tank cycling and stocking there is not much else you can do but buy more fish upgrade your decor- equipment and weekly maintenance. So people tend to just keep buying fish. I have only been fish keeping for about a year but from what I have seen the more room your fish has the more life he has over crowding causes stress witch in tern causes sickness, but its your money your tank and your fish. If I had to chose I would go with what ever is smallest of those options.

A FM is nowhere near as dirty as a Oscar, for a start the fish is a third of its size and eats nowhere near as much!

So your point was my 32 gallon tank is not big enough to contain a firemouth, make your mind up mate,my response was to yours saying you cant keep these fish in 32 gallon and now your twisting it to say i'm not doing big enough water changes.

Lets get real here mate,10% water change on a 7" fish and a 1" fish is not pathetic.

How about before trying to belittle me how about ask me about long term plans.

I said i was going to do a 10% water change everyday until my Ammonia stopped spiking, and consedering i am only feeding them every other day at the moment anyway, its not a big deal, the reason why my Ammonia is spiking is becasue it is a newly cycled tank!

I never once said i was not going to do it accordingly to stock etc.

Your comment was a 32 gallon is not big enough for 3 6"-7" fish...hence my original response, all your doing now is nitpicking because you were wrong first time round.

Of course i am going to do bigger water changes later along, along with gravel hoovering and evaporation top ups,I have kept fish all my life from Reef tanks to Ponds, from Discus to Malawi, don't try and stomp on me with your Water police rubbish.

I have only had the tank in question for 6 weeks,i have no room for bigger so i am making do with what i got,i'm hardly bored of my tank because i want 3 medium fish and some barbs.

The tank is 3ft,3" x 20" x 16" that is more than enough.

Please stop jumping on me people and trying to find faults,i just asked what would go with those 3 fish.

It is so off topic, but i can see your just trying to get a reaction so you may as well close it,i posted the question is my tank overstocked over at Monster Fishkeepers and they thought it was hilarious.

Also posted it here in the main Trop. Section

Next you lot will be telling people you cant keep a neon in a 10 ft tank.

By the way Foley your 25 gallon is well over stocked if anything in this thread has meant anything.

how is my tank overstocked with a 4" convict and a 2.5" female :S im not after no reaction im just adding something

How is mine with a 7" Gourami and a 1" Firemouth?

Divide 10" x 25 gallons (mae = 6",female = 4" and then the fry when you have them)

then divide

19" x 32 gallons (thats including the adult angel that i dont own yet)

the difference is nothing, and is infact understocked.

Well sorry if it seemed like I was jumping on you. It sounds like you know what your doing and if I had to choose something I would go with the tiger barbs they look cool and they are Ok tempered at least from what I have seen... GL :good:

Thank you thats all i wanted to hear really...and nothing against you personally,It just gets on my nerves how this site goes so easily off topic and the amount of assumptions made.

Ie: Ask a specific question about what fish would be compatiable with others then end up in a argument about your water quality, your stocking and water changes and how people look after there fish better than you.... when i never asked for any opinions....i mean if i didnt know what i was doing with water changes i would of been screwed with my Discus and Reef Tanks.

All i have learnt is a 6" fish makes as much as a 16" fish....

well it doesnt matter about the fry becuse i have another rank running for them and i never argued your tank was overstocked so why change the subject when people are having a dig at you and was it not me who suggested you got tbarbs in the first place ?????

The other guy said I was overstocked and you sat back saying 'I agree' and 'hes got a point'...so if you agree you best go buy yourself a 10 footer to put your convict in ;)

If you dont want to be involved stay out of it instead of stood in the background nodding along with the higher power.

I think the reason this thread has gone bad is because nobody actually reads posts fully.

The simple question was..in short..

Can i keep 5 Tiger Barbs with these fish..

Then the other dude starts getting all sarcastic and saying my tank is well overstocked and that Firemouths make as much mess giant cichlids and loads of other far fetched stuff.

Then when i disagreed he started accusing me of not looking after them properly when i havent even got half of it yet! not mentioned how i plan to look after them,i did infact explain i was going to do a series of small water changes to try and bring my ammonia down as it is a newly cycled tank and it obviously is not coping well with my 2 impulse additions...which maybe i should of spaced out but they were bargains.

Nevermind just lock the thread,I'll do it my own way.
