Finding Dead Guppies And Shrimp After Chamge To Cat Litter Any Ideas

Hi all change my substrate on thursday to cat litter tescos clay that i washed for over an hour now im finding dead shrimp n ill looking guppies all my readings are zero my ph is high i think its reading 7.4-7.6 in tank and 7.8 from the tap could this be the cause and how to lower ph

Please help

It's possible that somethings caused the PH to crash, a sudden jolt of PH will kill anything in the tank. 
 
There's no way to alter the PH, Whatever it sets to is what your PH is. I'd do a water change and test again. So if its lower or higher.

But wont puttinv water in with a higher ph raise it ?

It depends what your tap PH is?


Oh nevermind, Yea if your PH is lowered a tad then the cat stuff might have lowered it a tiny bit but it does not even look like that much of a drop.
 
It's more likely theres something in the cat crap that does not agree with your fish.
