I have guppy fry

Went to check on my fishies before bed, 2 out of the 3 female guppies are due too drop and one was looking slightly slimmer than this afternoon, didn't think much of it, until i spotted movement in the java moss

Looked closer and could see 2 fry, just about made them out, tried counting more and I've racked up 9 so far.

Mummy guppy has taken up residence in the camb.

Fingers crossed some fry survive

Nah, mate gave me 2 females, just so happens they were already preggers. She swore blind they weren't but admitted she told a fib

I have a platinum female who is preggers, the father being a blue/black plat mix. Hoping that she holds off 5 more days, so that i can clear the QT for her

i can see fry and it looks to be more than last night, mum is staying close by, been chasing off the others.

I'm going to leave them in the main tank, until they are bigger, if nature intervenes then so be it.

Yeah, I saw that docu, there was a mum who blamed her kid's sickness on the meds dr's gave and not the fact that there was inbreeding

I've spoken to both my lfs, 1 has said they will take the females and the other have said they'd take the males (if i can't re-home them). Both are giving me store credit for them, buying then £1 cheaper than the shop sells then, so I basically get £2 per guppy

Ouch my local fish shop sell guppies at £1 each for females and only £1.50 each for the females.

What I've done, was simply to ensure that the sexes wouldn't mix, where 1 lfs doesn't have any females and has 4 tanks of ma3es and the other lfs has 2 tanks of females and no males. So the males will go the the lfs that has no males etc.

So, in theory, my fry shouldn't inbreed but who knows.

Sounds good. I had not thought about keeping fry from inbreeding (but I've never had any fry to deal with).
