Hi everybody!

For 2 months now, I have been looking for the ideal filter for my to-be 180 litre planted bowfront tank. After I finally decided that the Marineland C-220 (alias Tetratec EX700) was my choice, the struggle only just begun! Although the brand Marineland is sold in Mexico, these filters are not available here (only come hang on filters), and all the internet addresses in the US I found were not willing to take foreign credit cards and/or ship outside the US.

I found after weeks a real bargain deal on Ebay (79 USD for this filter), and was really determined to get it. Got myself a shipping address in Laredo, Texas through a Mexican friend that makes regular trips from Laredo into Mexico. Personnel in this shop (MOnsterpets in Philadelphia) were really friendly and willing to help, because I was not allowed to buy it of Ebay as I have a foreign registered ID. However, they said that they only needed the Texas address, and a valid credit card number, and BINGO!

Today I ordered it, and for a total of 99 USD (including shipping) I am soon the proud owner of a Marineland canister filter! Can't wait to see it!

Just wanted to share this with you all....

yay lol, are those the new ones marineland just came out with?

And they are a top top filter too.

I was very impressed with mine and continue to be, but there will be the usual eheim fans that will look down their noses at that's not ugly, green and costs more than its worth and not accept that anything not by their beloved manufacturer can be any good.

I have the Tetratec EX700. Looks Good, is silent, is easy to put together, is easy to clean, cleans the water perfectly...need I say more.

Hope yours is as good as mine.

Andy

bah you're just jealous 'cos you haven't got one :p

I'm just happy because I could spend the leftovers (after paying £46.99 inc shipping) on some glass inlet outlet pipes  .lol

And I hate those horrible green buckets.

MiIne is supposed to be the same one, just with a different name: Marineland C-220 for 55 gallons. Thanks to a tip on a different forum, I found out that the Marineland C series is the equivalent for Tetratec EX in the US.

Just read that they are offering here in Mexico Odyssea (Jebo), for about 25% more than what I paid in the States (including postage) for mine! Read reviews about this one on other forums, and it doesn't sound too good. It makes me feel even happier that I was able to get this great filter.
