I thought I'd drag out this old thread instead of creating a new one. I don't get to post on here very often. Raising my grandson takes more time than I expected. Every free minute I have is spent working in the fish room. It's a great way to relieve the stress of the day. At least until last week. My room has been up and running for 3 years and everything was going great. Here in the US in WNY we have had a brutal winter. We had a warm up one day and a flash freeze the next with temps in the sub zero range for weeks at a time. We haven't had a winter like this in 30 years or more. What does this have to do with the fish room? Well, from the quick thaw, we had a flood outside the room. Six inches of water laying on the ground. Then we had the flash freeze, the ground heaved on one end of the building and sank on the other. The walls are cracked and the floor is no longer level. We are not talking about a concrete pad laying on the ground. We are talking about a concrete foundation 4 ft under the ground. I have had to condense my tanks down to 5 medium sized ones and have them along the wall that has support from the basement wall. Now I no longer have a fish room. I have a room I am afraid to work in. Until spring, this is going to have to do. I have rehomed as many fish as possible. To top everything off, my 14 year old angelfish died yesterday. He was fine one minute and dead the next, but he lived a long healthy life.
