Just a little background first... I have had aquariums for almost 43 years. I ran a small shop in my garage 15 years ago, but had to shut down and sell everything except 2 tanks due to financial difficulty.
A few months ago my husband pulled a stupid move. He went out and bought our 15 year old a car. She's not old enough to even get a driver's permit, but he bought her a car. How many problems do you see with this? We ended up in a fight over it. As with all fights, it turned around to how all my aquariums are taking up so much space in our little house. I told him if he would have spent the money on an addition to the house for my tanks, we wouldn't be so crowded. Construction started that weekend.
The walls are done. The electric is done. Heat ducts are run. Water lines are in. The sink was hooked up, but there is a small water leak we have to fix this weekend. I have 6 ten gallon tanks and two 20s coming tonight...they were free! I bought a 75 gallon off Craig's List for $50 last week. I'm adding these to my three 55s,one 54 bowfront, one 46 bowfront, one 5 gallon, and two 10 gallons. This should keep me busy for awhile! I will get some pics this weekend, but be warned, don't make fun of the color I chose for the walls. I had to chose a color that calms ME. Between the husband and the 15 year old(she had a baby last year and I home school her), I need something calming in my life.

so your husband buying a car worked to your advantage =D ... what are you thinking of keeping in the tank's

I have absolutely no idea what I plan on keeping. Actually, I have too many ideas. I'm just going to set them up one at a time and then decide. Being in the hobby so long, I have lots of equipment and knowledge. One thing I know for sure, the 75 will be for discus. That will be awhile though. One good point, I now have room for a quarantine tank and a hospital tank.

I remember when the wife flipped when i put 10k into my skyline engine....dam that was a quick car....im still paying off her every whim for that and that was years ago :p

Best of luck with the tanks dont forget to get pics of the room and tanks :good:

Sorry, no pics of the room being built. I came home from work and the walls were up and electric lines run. In my excitement, I forgot to take pics before it was drywalled and painted. I've been so busy trying to find all of my old equipment and get more tanks that I forgot to get pics of the progress. This project wasn't supposed to happen until next spring! The room is 9x21. Not very big, but enough for me. I spent the weekend putting up my hospital tank (I have a 12 year old angelfish that is in pretty rough shape), and tearing down my shrimp tank and moving it in the new room. I got the leaky water line fixed, the sink installed and the counter built. My girl is using my camera for her digital photography class, so taking pics is difficult, but I will snap a few when I get home tonight. Nothing much to see, really. All I have up is two 10 gallon tanks. Thanks for all of your responces and interest!
