Ive got internal filters and a eheim 2211 but ive no idea when it comes to anything other than internal filters, i assume canister and external filters are one in the same?

What do people think of this one for either a 60L or less tank?

Well, it's geared towards a turtle tank, but I'm not sure if it will work as a fish tank filter though. I don't see why it can't be used as a fish tank filter

My own experience with tiny externals that looked somewhat like that was a poor one. I had one that ran for about a year before giving up completely and I couldn't even get at the impeller part of the filter case to do any troubleshooting. Mine was a different brand but I would not buy another filter without knowing that all of the parts are accessible. Since I bought two at the same time, I am just waiting for the second one to quit working. With no access to the impeller, you can't even clean it properly. You might use a google search to get a copy of the owner's manual on that one. If it gives only media changing and cleaning advice and ignores the need to clean the impeller, it may have the same faults.
For a little tank like a 20 or 30 gallon, I use a sponge filter with a power head, or a Rena XP1 or even a small Hang On Back filter. The HOB filters are quite common here but are not very flexible in terms of media unless you get something like an AC filter.

Ive thought of HOB filters but i cant find any small and not too expensive ones.
Thanx for your opinions.

I guess the AquaClear (AC) range is not readily available via the web in the UK?

The smallest AC20 (which used to be called the AC mini) is what's currently getting fishless cycled on my son's Q-tank. I was dirt cheap if I recall. You would need a slightly bigger one though.

~~waterdrop~~
