Fish Herder
Hi everyone iv just persuaded a friend of mine to get a tank. So far so good, but he is now looking for a filter. The tank is a rio 300 (4 foot, 350 litre). I have an fx5 on my rio 400 but he doesn't want to spend that sort of money. He wants to buy new and is looking at a fluval 406 or a tetratec 1200. I also have a 406 which I find great but can't comment on the tetratec as iv never had 1.
Could someone please tell me which one would be the better one to go for. We have noticed the tetratec is cheaper at £99 new and for up to 500 litre tanks with 1200 litre turn over per hour (without media i beleive) Compared to the 406 which is only rated for tanks of up to 400 litres and cheapest we found is £128 new.
He is also aware that he needs to do a fish less cycle before he can add fish and he has also bought a api master test kit. I have also pointed out the beginners section on here for him to have a read through. He didn't realise it would be such a wait til he could add the fish
Thanks
