Filterless?

I know quite a few keepers have successfully gone filterless. I'm curious if I could do it in a ~5 gallon shrimp tank. Any thoughts or advice?

With enough plants you can, but good to have an airline/stone at least to create some circulation

Yes, totally possible. As @mbsqw1d said, live plants really help. All I have in my 20g long tank is live plants and an airstone.

It is all about the amount of plant in the system, followed by temperature and fish in the tank

Ok so 5 gallon tank, 8 hour lighting system, LOTS of plants, some shrimp, and an airstone? That seems manageable... I'm sure it'll take lots of tweaking

Not a problem, go for it and enjoy. Water changes 25% a week. You will be fine.
