Right as you can see in the topic title I have a 68L tank ready to endure a nice Fishless cycle.

I have my gravel, I have the heater. (need a new tube light) and need a new filter.

Basically I wanted some suggestions on what Filter I should get.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you :)

n.b: I am looking to create a nice community tank, Including the following fish.

1x Male Betta
A nice number of Neon Tetra's (6-10)
I want a bottom dweller. maybe Clown Loach or Corys... or maybe shrimp. lol

internal or external?... BTW tank is no where near big enough for clown loach :)

Internal sorry. should have mentioned that :(

Clown loaches won't go in that tank :(

Whats the recommended size for a Clown Loach then?

Then my recommendation would be a fluval 3+ or maybe a fluval 2+ dependant on how stocked the tank will be.

Clown loach need to be in groups and im sure a recommened sized tank is 4 foot plus.

Then the Loaches will have to wait until i get a bigger tank then.

Well I definitely want a Male Betta.

A nice shoal of Neons like I said.

And a bottom dweller or two to eat up any built up algae...

Only thing I'd comment on with that is to be aware the betta and neons might not get along together. So long as you have some sort of back-up plan (or a community set-up you can remove the neons into), then go for it.
Hopefully you shouldn't have any problems at all. It's just one of those things to be aware of and prepared for. :)

What type of betta do you want? Or are you just planning to buy whatever catched your eye at the lfs?

Yeah I have had a lot of people tell me about having the Neons and Betta together.

But I think I will add the neons first, just thinking that if I put the betta in first then it may become territorial to the tank as a whole and get aggressive to newcomers... lol (I'm new to this so I don't know if it will work or not...) just trying to think logically...

I will have a small tank set up to take the Betta out right away if anything gets out of hand. so There's no problem there (except another 20GBP out of my pocket lol)

I want I think its called a Full white Halfmoon? they look beautiful :)

Neons or Betta can cause the problem.
The Bettas can be territorial OR the neons can be nippy. Lol.

But yeah, if you already know and have a back-up plan then go for it. Chances are you wont have a problem. :)

And I agree White Halfmoons are rather pretty.

My personal favourites are any coloured Butterfly Halfmoons and some Mustard Gas Halfmoons
I wish I had room to set-up my own Betta tank.

To be honest with you I wish I didnt have room haha...

I've got my own place so I can make as much space as I want for new tanks... :/
Just wish I had the money :p

The only thing is with the Halfmoons, my LFS doesn't get them :(

I asked them to get me a full white one and when they did it was more beige and looked horrible... opps lol

Try another fish shop?

I can't wait till this time next year. I'll be in a privately rented student house. So as long as I padlock the tank lid shut and stick the tank to the table then I can have fish again!
Going to move my 125l community in with me and also get a betta if the landlord will let me.

I have only two near me...

A privately owned Fish shop or Pets at Home - which the later is rather useless and would never buy fish from there, as most of the time there are dead fish in the tank. If that aint a put off then I don't know what is...

Moving a 125L tank. Sod that! lol

Well your only other option is online ordering then really... tried looking for private breeders in your area?
You could probably stick a wanted add on Aquarist-Classifieds. Or just try the shop again.

And yeah, I'm not looking forwards to 'moving day' for the fish.

Well first things first. Need to get money together and buy the filter... and a new bulb. And the the long process of a fishless cycle. lol :)

Not easy being a student :p

I can't wait to be a student again!
It's been fun having money for a year, but I've had quite enough of full time work for awhile thanks.
