Currently cycling a 60 liter with 1 fluval 1 plus and a fluval 2 plus my tank at the moment is eating ammonia up in 7 to 8 hours and nitrite is 12 to 18 hours

So would the fluval one be ok to add to a 6 Gallon betta tank now ? well i say now but it will be Saturday at latest before i can get fish if it is ok to add the filter

Will have a look in to buying a spounge filter :good:

Will it need to be cycled from scratch or can i add the media from the fluval

I have a fluval 1 sitting in my 30 gal for no reason , and have tried it in my spare 5 gallon when I tested it to see everything worked. It was FAR too strong for any weak swimmer or very long finned fish. A betta would be absolutely blasted round the tank seeing as there is no flow control or even a moving outflow nozzel to try and direct it at the glass.

If you have no other cycled filter ,then you could try making a spray bar out of some flexible, aquarium safe rubber tubing if you can get some of the right diameter to fit tightly on the outflow nozzel of the Fluval 1 . Then you can simply make holes along the tubing, seal the other end of the tube with aquarium sealant, and direct the tube's holes at the back of the tank, which will deflect the force of the water and make it ok for the betta.

You can pick up a sponge filter for about a fiver. An air pump that is suitable can be bought for as little as five or six quid.

I would just stick a mature media pad from the Fluval into the tank and wedge it under the sponge filter, removing it after two weeks. This way, your fish can be introduced sooner. I did this with Mango's tank :good:

Think i will spend tomorrow looking for a spounge filter then :good:

I have a tetratec air pump 150 already would that be ok to run a spunge filter?
