It's because I'm going to cycle lots of media (more than the filter will hold at one time ) so I can add it to my new tank.

Maybe run your new filter in your old tank

Haven't got the new tank wanted to have it ready

Just put a small bit of the new media in your current filter. In 4 to 6 weeks, it'll be cycled for the same amount of fish as it's supporting now (so, if you had ten guppies, and took a quarter of the media away, you could stock the new tank with two or three guppy sized fish)
