I have a Fluval 2 plus filter, which has been running since August. Recently it has been getting clogged really frequently. I do water changes twice a week and at least once a week when I go to switch it back on it doesn't come on and I have to clean it and persaude it to work again. Today I changed the polyester filter pad as it was falling apart and then switched it back on. It is now making a loud humming noise, which is really irritating especially as it by the bed :shout: . It used to be practically silent before.

Has anyone else had a problem with these filters? Am I doing something wrong?

i have that problem with my 3+

it takes a really good vigorous clean of the propeller to stop rattling, i myself believe it is because the propeller and the shaft needs replacing, but i am yet to test that theory

to clean it well i usually take the power head to teh sink and run hot water through it and clean it there, also cotton buds help to, i then put the filter as far under the surface of teh water as possible

im gonna hopefully gonna switch to another U3 as they are much better filters, might be worth looking into!

Thank you! I have just tried this and it is quiet again. I thought the quick rinse was sufficient but it obviously needs more attention. I might consider replacing it with a U2 at some point but don't want to yet as I haven't had this one long. Cheers.
