Filter for Planted Tank

I'm going to convert my 65 gallon tank over to a completely planted tank. I am currently using a Tetra Tec 500 filter. Do I need to add an undergravel filter and powerhead? Just wondering how well the substrate will stay clean when not vacuumed.
