I'm two months into enjoying my upgraded tank.
It has an overhead trickle fiter, with spray bar delivering to 4 compartments containing various media, each with a layer of filter floss across the top of the compartment.
I doubled up the filter floss when I set up, as I thought an extra layer couldn't do any harm.
I change water weekly and normally rinse one of the 4 compartment's floss each week on rotation.
Today when I looked in, all the floss had inflated, kinda full of air and was risen in humps and bumps. I pressed it all back down aagain and it looks fine.
Just a bit surprised at this. Is it normal? or an indication of some weird gas producing chemical process occuring?
I've not use overhead trickle filters before. So unsure whether its just a sign that the floss needs replacing.
