I have upped my fertilisation regime and I am noticing that my fish are now continuously at the top like gasping for air. Is there any relationship between the 2?

Tank: 180 litre, about 75% planted, 8 hrs light, 30W
Currently dosing:
10 ml of liquid carbon a day (amount for 250 litre according to the instructions)

Every other day:
10 ml of potassium
2.5 ml of nitrogen
5 ml of phosphate

30% water change/week

The lower the pH the lower the oxygen levels. My bet is the Carbon is lowering your pH

Liquid carbon would be my first guess. The liquid stuff doesn't normally effect PH, but it is really weird stuff none the less. I have heard of many plant, fish, shrimp deaths to liquid carbon. Also your phosphate seems kinda high, but I guess it all depends what you are adding

I think it is the liquid carbon guys; I put it in early this morning (today only carbon, no ferts) and 2 hrs later they are all gasping again... I think the problem is that I am putting the carbon in too early when the lights are not yet on. So, I have now switched on the lights and will see whether things are better in an hour.

Don't kill your fish with your liquid carbon experiments!
