Hi,

I recently started keeping tropical freshwater fish. You might of seen one or two of my other topics.

Here's my problem. I'm not sure how much I should really be feeding my fish. My LFS owner told me twice a day and not more than they can eat under 5 minutes. I am feeding them a mix of pellet and flake food as some of their mouths are too small to fit the pellets in their mouths.

I have 4 guppy's, 4 platy's, 3 mollies, 3 minnows, 5 zebra danios, 3 cherry shrimp and an upsidedown catfish.

If anyone could give me a second opinion I would be very greatful as most my fish are still quite young and I can't wait to see them flourish into adulthood

Thank you in advance

when feeding give small pinches so that you don't need to worry about over feeding. i find that if you are feeding it twice a day then all fish will be fed and happy and then one day a week no food should be given because that will help clean out the system of the fish.

i feed mine once a day and i skip a day every now and then,
yep, twice daily is a no no, fish can go ~4 days without eating.
common sense would indicate the more you feed, the more they poo, the more they poo, the more ammonia.

feed mine every other day flakes and dried bloodworms once a week as a treat :)
