Feeding Fish Live Swimming Mosquitoes Larva?

Hi thanks for looking.
Would it be suitable to feed my fish some live mosquitoes that are in either the larva or pupa stage? Here is a diagram to make it easier as to what stage is which,

Since its near summer i have started to see them again. I have a loading barrel that has filled up with water at the back of my garden and there is lots of larva and pupa swimming in there. Would it be suitable to feed my fish these?

Many people do feed them.Your fish would love you if you feed them some.Just watch out for pollution and the likes from where ever you get them.

Yeah thats what i was worried about the water doesn't look clean and i dont want any type of new parasites or disease getting to my fish. Would it be a good idea to catch them with a net and then put them into some clean water. There are loads so it would be good seeing my fish catch them. Do they burrow at all? If it works out well then I will feed them live larva for one day

Rinsing them couldn't hurt,I'm not sure that it could make them 100% safe.You could also set up something new/clean to collect rainwater and grow some for future use if your worried about the one you have now.Mosquito larva won't burrow,they just flip around until they are ready they break out of their old skins at the surface and fly away,I'm sure your fish will eat them way before that could happen.

Hopefully that they will get eaten which they will i dont want a whole colony of mosquitoes in my hood lol. I guess i could give it a go putting them in some clean water in a container, wouldn't touch them though lol. Do you have any idea at what temperature they live in? Can they take high temps? I think i will just keep taking them out of the barrel into some clean water an into tank because if i keep them in a tank they will have to fly out some day

I am currently working on an article surrounding the salt marsh mosquito Aedes detritus which is common around our coasts and estuarine waterways.
I will post in due course.
But yes you can certainly use Larval, Pupa and the eventual Mossie as fish food, although the first two stages are best for obvious reasons.

Thanks for the help everyone, im gonna give it a shot. Nice warm day today to be catching larva in a net
