Extremely High Ph!

A very interesting development!

Got home from work this morning, lights and air stone have been off all night and thought I would test my pH again.

In 12 hours my pH has dropped from 8.5ish to 7.6!

A much more stable level!

So I think in my circumstance I will be turning my air stone on a little less in the future, as this may be a contributing factor.

If you pH is changing because of an air stone, then the pH will not effect the fish or bacteria because the pH is changing due to carbonic acid.

I agree, that the air stone is gassing of Co2 and is playing with your pH, but this pH swing should not effect the fish or bacteria like I stated above.

Well like I say I have Neon Tetra's which from what I read prefer a pH up to around 7.2 at most, and they seemed to have no negative effects at 8.5.

Fish can adapt to a very wide range of pH.
