Which one would you say is better? An Eheim 2236 External filter or a Aqua One CF1000. Will be for a 210L tank :)

Really? Even though it only does 600L and the CF1000 does 1000L? I can buy either one for £50 atm... Thats about £30 off the CF1000 and £10 of the eheim.

Sorry to bump this so fast but im looking at picking either one up within the next couple of hours! Opinions please :)

Eheim have a long history of faultless design in their filters, there are people on the forum with eheim filters that have been running for 20 years, they are the Rolls Royce of the filter world and few other brands can match them.

Would it be best to save and get a larger Eheim filter? This one says it turns 600l p/h and its a 210L tank. At the moment im using 3 internals which gives around 1500L p/h but i guess the media side is alot larger in the external?

I would go for one giving 1000 lph on a 200-300 litre tank

Ive got the aquaone for my tank 125l and its doing wonders. EHEIM are a good make! a very good make however if you look at the design of both the two you are looking at they are very similar! so its like the jaguar s type and then the very similar design in the rover. obv there is a diff but you get the pic!

Have you considered Tetratec. I have an Eheim Ecco 2234 and a Tetratec EX1200 and the Tetratec is superior in everyway. You can pick up one for £60 delivered and the smaller models (if that is too big) are obviously even cheaper.

The difference isn't just in the looks, build quality and realiability are also factors. Both of which Eheim excel at.
The contact time is no doubt different also, Eheims in most tests I've seen always seem to lead in the ability to convert ammonia in the shortest space of time.
