External Filters

No it doesn't.

You could perhaps fashion some sort of pump system out of an old external but i dont see why you would bother, hose, bucket and gravity has to be easier

most people use the water change to do a gravel vac, so two jobs done in one go!

could anyone tell me if an external filter cuts out the regular water changes or can you in some way use a filter to do a water change.
What ever type of filter you have, it just makes the water safe for your fish by getting the ammonia and transfering it into nitrte then nitrate.

thanks kevin.
cant get around water changes, sorry.

i guess in theory you could, use the outlet pipe of your external, to do water changes. i dont myself. mine has a tap on so i can just pop the pipe in the water container, and knock it off when its full. as i dont gravel vac, i may look into this. thanks for the idea :good:
