Me personally ? For a tank your size ?

I'd keep the heater and just buy a heater guard for a couple of ££'s.
But if I had some extra money to splash, I'd buy a 100Watt Visitherm plus a heater guard.

Filter wise I'd probably pick up a second hand Eheim 2213 on eBay. Cheap as chips and does a fabulous job
Otherwise brand new all inclusive it's around £50.

Have just rung 1 of my LFS and they reccomend the Fluval 305 ...any ideas anyone ???

Tell them to stick it where the sun doesnt shine and buy an Eheim from elsewhere. The only reason shops push fluvals is that they have a greater proffit margin on them.

lol my lfs (Whosale Tropicals) will always recommend an Eheim - can't say I've ever noticed any other filters on their shelves even. And that's because they know it's quality
