External Filter

I have a tetratec 700 and an eheim ecco 2234 (I returned a eheim pro about a year ago). Got to say I haven't had any problems with the eheim, but the tetratec seems to filter better and the filter compartments are better thought out. Will be throwing the white filter pad though once its clogged and probably sqeezing in another bkack filter pad in its place.

i ordered a TETRATEC EX700 of ebay and because they had none in stock sent me a TETRATEC EX1200 for the same price and i must admit it is 200% better then fluval thanks for all your advice

O is that advisable to do?

I think so. The white pad is more mechanical filtration than anything. If I ever want to 'polish' the water. I cram some filter wool in there for a couple of days, then take it out. Done that with the eheim for ages.

It won't hurt to replace it; I took out the bag of carbon and replaced it with a black biofilter sponge. I've never needed carbon and it's no good after a few weeks, anyway.
