I am getting an Eheim external to go in my juwel 260 tank. With having an internal boxed filter in the tank, the water output and filter intake are on the same same side of the tank. This may sound like a stupid question, but which is the best way to set up the Eheim, to maximise the mechanical filtration aspect of it - i.e. intake or output to the other side of the tank away from the internal filter?

By the way, I hve the black juwel background fitted to the tank - will this cause problems with the suction caps?

Cheers :)

I know its probably a stooopid question...... but anybody? :D

When I do multiple filters on a tank many times it is a canister & a hob. I put the intake of the canister near the output of the hob, figuring with more water turbulance it will pick up more suspended particles. If I put it where there is less turbulance, or even a dead spot, most of the particles will have settled to the bottom before they get to that area.

Eheim recomends that for maximum circulation that the input is at the opposite end of of the output.

I relly cant see any way of using the suction cups with the juwel background.

Cheers everyone . If I find I can't use the suction cups, has anyone got an alternative idea? I'm also using a Nutrafin CO2 canister, so I think I'm starting to run out of space.
