External Filter Help!

yes as per instructions, ceramic, bio balls then carbon from bottom up. i have set it running and covered it up seems to be a bit quieter, cant put it in cupbaord though

I have the aps 1000 it about 2 meters away from the sofa and i cant even hear if its on. If i turn everyting off like tv etc i hear a low hum but have to try for it which tells me yours is not right at all. I just tiped mine 40degree and no leaks....did get a bit of air come out though so thanks lol :good:

Try some vasoline around the o ring to create a better seal

just tried vaseline, and moving the filter trays around etc, finally think it doesnt leak, buts its still noisier than my fridge freezer maybe even my dishwasher...i can hear it upstairs even when its in the cupboard. im going to contact re-seller and get help or try sending it back.

just tried vaseline, no better... think im going to try sending it back.

perhaps the best option. you may well have a cracked casing. i just hope the vendor is cooperative. best of l luck mate, let us know how you do!

its def the impellor! if i run it dry (i know but im troubleshooting here ) with lots of vaseline and no shaft its quiet as a mouse, as soon as i put the impellor shaft in it vibrates like a rattlesnake.

i have contacted the sellor but no responce yet... i have got it a lot better now though so i have it running. Maybe by tomorrow it will have sorted itself... ill keep this updated :)

Its interesting because I replaced my impellor but no difference for me. Do you have to lube the impellor then? Mine is dry as a bone (and brand new)

i dont think you 2should" have to bu it has helped mine, done overdo it though as youll get it all over the surface of the water

still cant get it quieter then my fridge freezer... its rediculous. APS response was make sure all hoses are beneath water level, already told them this in my email #63###!!! :-(

cant say i'd recomment this,,,,

You have to give nearly all filters, even internals, time to 'bed in'. I have three APS filters and they're all almost silent; I can hear a bit of a hum when I'm right next to them but that's all.

They do sometimes 'rattle' a bit after maintenance, but that's normally 'cos I haven't primed them properly and got rid of all the air.

its back to leaking again as well, if you slightly tip is water bellows from the grey hinges... :(
Its definately not what i would call quiet running, i bought it as my internal juwel has gotten noisey lately, this is easily 3 times louder than that. i apreciate it may need bedding in though.
