Hi, i am a newbie to the hobby and have finally finished my research, could someone please tell me if you think these fish would be compatible in a 50 gallon tank, 36" 18" 18", plenty of plant cover around the sides with small rooted plants in the middle, plenty of open water, 6 rock caves.

3 flying foxes
1 bristle nosed catfish
1 pair of Kribensis
2 pairs or Rams
6 wagtail platys
3 siamese fighting fish (1 male, 2 females)

I'm not sure about this one but i've heard that with plenty of cover and space it should be ok in a communal tank -

1 red tail black shark

Please let me know if you think this would be a safe and happy tank for all concerned. Many thanks,

Jonny

Hello, Good morning & welcome.

Regarding your potential fish, I have been advised and read on here several times that it's risky keeping Male/female Siamese Fighters together in a community tank.

As for the rest, should be fine as the Cichlids are small and not too aggressive>can hide in rocks/plants. It may change at breeding time, however!

Good luck.

Hi, thanks for the welcome :) yeah i just got a message saying the same about the siamese, she also said its probably not a good idea to put the red tail shark in either as it is likely to cause problems.

i am a tropical fish newb, i currently have

1 male sieamese fighting fish
12 fancy guppies
1 small silver molly
1 gold ringed butterfly sucker
1 queen loach

does this sound like an okay combination? the only issues i have is that the queen loach is starting to nibble at the other fish at night - i am hoping to sure this by providing it more snails to eat - othewise it shall have to be rehomed.

My tank is densly planted with lots of placed to hide, and there is a large area at the front for open swimming, I am planning on adding 3 or 4 glass catfish.

will my community work with these? and are there any other docile small fish that anyone could suggest i could add??

thank you!!

Your Fighter will probably nip fins off Guppies, Glass Catfish would be great (I like them a lot-best in a shoal of 5+)

Other docile, small fish include; Neons, Rummy-Nose Tetras, Kribs?, Platies, HoneyGourami, Corys....
