I personally am pretty dense as a designer. I've got a few pieces in my tank I want to work with, however I can't decide how to best lay them out, what plants to put on which, etc.

I found this site http://www.tropica.com/layouts.aspx which is useful.

Anyone know any other sites like it with 'blueprints?'

i always find having a go with paint, or even on paper one of the best parts of scaping. Why not have a go! :good:

I've used pictures from the internet and put together several PowerPoint slides for possible 'scapes in the past......too much???

I don't think that's to much, as long as you didn't then go onto presenting your PowerPoint to your friends and family lol.

I tried, but they seemed much more keen on having Christmas dinner. I'd set up the projector and everything! Phillistines.

Going back to the topic, someone posted this a while ago. They are certainly more expert scapes, but can give you some great pointers on shape and layout

PARC has a scaping section that can give some inspiration to the type of scape you may want to achieve. It explains how you can set these up and the basic principles then you can google images and like ian says, crack open paint or have a doodle on a bit of paper. Im on my mobile phone so cant link anything :/

I forgot about that utility.....brilliant shout
