well its about aquabid, i really want to order a chocolate chiclid from here but a few days ago i was browsing though and I let a virus through to my cpu and it got infected, when the thing got fixed my dad told me to show him the site that i "contracted" it from,i told him it doesnt matter I let it through so it wont infect my pc if i just dont allow anything from the site onto the comp. but now he wont let me go there.

has anyone ever got infected whilst on aquabid or is this just a bad coincidence?

I've clicked on an auction once and it started freaking my computer out, popping up a bunch of windows... We had out computer hacked a week or so later, not sure if this was what caused it or if we already had problems and it just decided to crop up at that particular moment.

yeah, im asking becaue techniqually this is the fish version of ebay so it HAS to be safe or noone would use it right?

i just want to make sure it was just a coincidence and not some wierd occurence.

Always make sure your PC has upto date antivirus and spyware protection. These are largely free and will prevent 99% of these type of things. If you need a free application and run a windows XP, vista, 7 PC, i would recommend Microsoft security essentials as its light and free to use.

as stated a good Anti virus is a must. I would suggest Avira. there is nothing wrong with MS Essentials, just Avira detects better. also a "anti Malware" is worth adding. something like IO 360, finally a firewall (not the MS excuse that ships with Windows), say Comodo. i mention a firewall as this will allow you to control the actions of a virus, in the event of infection. also, if you use Firefox, they have a plugin called WOT. this warns and, initially, blocks access to sites that have been flagged as "untrustworthy". its, occasionally a pain, but well worth it.

The site itself may be safe but each poster on there can present a new risk to a user. I never go online without a strong anti-virus like the Bit Defender that I am now using. There is no such thing as a safe place to be without a good anti-virus program. When I have a new PC, I won't even go on line to register it until I get the AV installed. That includes manufacturer sites and software manufacturer sites. When I go to some of my usual places from my PC at work, it is distressing to see how often the crude popup blocker and AV that they use lets things through. I work at a major company that should theoretically have some very tough AV software but the one I use at home seems to protect me better.

well, i guess i should point out it is my fault that my pc got infected, which i pointed out to my dad but he is really stubborn.

when i got the pc fixed they deleted mcaffee i had and replaced it with MS essentials, which scans my pc every few minutes so i like it.

in truth, its always the users fault if a machine gets infected. and i would give whoever fixed(?) your pc a pat on the back. mcaffee, really, should no longer be on machines. useless does not cover it. and the same is true of Kasperski . which means the, or 2 of the, best known paid for utilities. no longer cut the mustard.

keep an eye on Essentials though. i got up this morning to find it had indicated a MS windows kernal call as a virus??? it pointed to ntkrnlpa.exe (actually part of the windows os).
