Evaluating Test Results

hi everyone

,just tested my tap water and then my tank water and here are the results : tap water is PH 8.2 , GH 125.3 ppm and KH 125.3 ppm , and my tank results are PH 7.6 , NITRITE 0ppm , AMMONIA 0ppm , NITRATE 5ppm KH 196.9 ppm and GH 214.8 ppm all tested with an API liquid test kit , the tank is a 97 liter has a fluval 205 external filter and it contains , corys ,1 rainbow shark , tetras and guppies . all i add to the water when doing a water change is interpet tapsafe and tropic marine remineral salt , can anybody help me out ? are the test results OK and do i need to add the tropic marine to harden the water PLEASE HELP ME OUT

Why would you want to harden the water ?

Why are you adding mineral salt ?

Are you having any problems with your fish ?

I'd always start with trying to keep fish in my tapwater (dechlored, of course), unless it was hugely unsuitable, which yours doesn't seem to be. Most fish are pretty adaptable.

hi there im not having problems with my fish ,and im adding mineral salt as advised by the LFS (a&d aquatics in oldbury ) as they said my water is to soft thats all , and as a new comer (ish ) thought they were right , thats why ive put my results on here to see what THE PROFFESSIONALS say

I'd say that you do not need to add any mineral salt to your water. It's just the LFS trying to sell you as much as possible.
However, if you do decide to change your water back to "plain" tapwater, do it slowly over a few days. The fish may well not like a sudden change in dissolved solids.
As in all water parameter changes, slower is better.
