Okay...

My filter, heater and computer are all together on a 3 way brick. That 3 way brick is plugged into 1 socket on a power line that only gives power to one socket, the rest turn on after ten seconds. Instead of turning my computer on to make my light run (on the power line) i unplugged the brick and plugged the light into the live socket.

In doing this, i forgot that the filter and heater were on the same plug.

So, ive come home, my temp is 17.4 dec c and the filter has been off aswell. The temp is rising slowly.

HELP

Mr betta moves every so often but is mainly lying on the sand. Albino cory moves from time to time aswell. Situation grim?

No its ok, if breathing then still alive, thats not toooo cold, just keep it raising slowly and they will be fine. nothing else you can do. they are coldblooded so just slow right down when its cold. sure they will be fine. dont do it again!! lol.

p.s. the cory will be totally fine, ive had them swimming happily in tanks of 10 degrees and below.

get the temp up asap, if its 17 and they still haven't perished then you may be able to revive them,
but if they do you may expect to see a whitespot outbreak or similar caused by the stress of the cold

Dont want to argue but i wouldnt do it "asap" that will shock the fish. just do it gradually (the heater on is fine) dont be adding hot water or anything.

Also cold doesnt actually "stress" fish, they just sort of slow right down. doesnt stress them. they really should be fine.

Lol well i didn't mean boil the kettle and throw it in, but for example increasing the temp in the room or adding any spare heaters to the tank will help get things back to normal at a quicker pace,

Hold on that is uncalled for, *** does happen as we all know.

However rather than criticism how about I suggest you take your computer off the 3 way get a multi way with more than 3 sockets or plug in another 3 way, this would be safer than a block and avoid the problem occuring again.

So in effect you will have one 3 way plugged into the wall for your fish tank, another 3 way plugged into the original 3 way for your computer.

The fire services much much prefer you use mulit ways rather than the blocks for safety reasons. ;)

Yeah they will most likely be ok (the Cory's will be perfectly fine and it may even get them spawning).
Make sure you raise the temp up slowly (as said just let the heater do it).

Ok, thanks everyone.

Who was that uncalled for aimed at?

yep, hes gone out from under the wood to behind some plants. At 19 now.

About ludwig, sorry if im wrong, but i feel that he never helps. He always has some sort of remark.

unfortunatley, due to using text, it is sometimes difficult to ascertain how someone is being, when they type, and in turn, this can often lead to misunderstanding what someone has said, or how it was said.

personally i'd take some water out the tank , boil a kettle stick the boilding hot water in a bucket and add cold water until it seems normal tank temp and add it to it . i had a disaster the other week when i totally forgot to heat the water before putting it in the tank(don't ask...) i used boiling water and adding cold and the temp was fine in no time .
