I have a 2229 wet/dry, i need to get some kind of filter substance, the manual says only use EHFISUBSTRAT PRO (well they would, wouldn't they ).
However, it very expensive £14.00 for 1l and i need 7.5l I think for my filter, any recommendations for other substance?

most forms of media will work fine.
but, my experience says the Eheim product is, close to, if not the best.
the entire filter volume is less than 7.5l. 7.3 actually. and you get 6l of substrastpro to fill it.
personally i'd fill the first basket with EHFI MECH. and fill the other two with substratpro.

a kit like this media kit will do the job.
yes its pricey, but the filter is not cheap either. quality cost.

Thx I think , i have found all the pipework on ebay for £20.00, so just need the media, going to have a look around for that. The reviews i found said it was a very good filter, if a little hard to get going to start with..
Do you not rate it?
