Eheim Proffesional Series 2 Canister Filter

First off, such a nice looking filter.. Any who was wondering what should put in the two filter compartments. Mine was used so im throwing out all the pads and only saving the sponge filter. It came with bio balls and these little PVC rubber bits...both of which Ive heard dont work very well.. Should i just do the cotton/fabric pads with carbon and sponges?

Mechanical media in the bottom tray, so ceramic tubes or the black ridged plastic tubes eheim sell, and bio media in the top tray, porous ceramic balls such as eheim substrat pro, then a layer of filter floss at the very top to remove any fine particles. Hope that helps

Thanks! so ill do spongy filter floss at top then all my fine pads and carbon and ill keep the rubber bits and bio balls in the bottom tray.

Don't worry about the carbon, just keep it for after you ever need to medicate the tank as it will remove the medication com the water. It's not really needed otherwise. The water flow in an eheim filter goes bottom to top them back to tank, so you want the coarsest media at the bottom to remove big bits of waste, and finest at the top.
