Hi all,

I got a 450 litre aquarium and installed a new ehem pro 3 2075. The outlet pipe goes to an aquamedic reaktor 1000 and then to the aquarium. The reaktor is installed near the filter. The only issue that i am encountering is that the filter output (situated under water so I do not let oxygen comes in because of CO2) is low in my opinion. I am a bit concerned because of lack of filtering and water circulation?

What can go wrong? Why the output is slow?

Maybe i need to install a new pump so that I have a better water cirulation?

Top layer
Blue Coarse Filter
Fine Filter
EHEIM substrat pro
BioHome
Fine Filter
EHEIM bioMECH
EHEIM MECHpro
Bottom Layer

The only one that is full to the top is the Eheim Mechpro, the other are not full to the top. Practicly i removed 1 tray eheim mechpro from the filter to add the biohome else i left it as the filter came so i do not think that i stacked it with too much filter.

What do you think?

Right now i have the filter and the reactor on the same level in the cabinet and then to the aquarium.

The pipe that is connected to the reactor is short but the pipe that is connected from the reactor to the outlet is 1.8Meters long. Could it be this the problem?
If yes should i make the bends more sharp?

I've set my Eheim 2078 up on a 540l tank in the last two days and I have to be honest, the water current is pathetic compared to how it did in the 240l Rio. Eheim have a habit of overhyping the pump outputs, as my 2078 is rated at 1850 litres per hour... without filtration media! In reality, it maxes out at 1000 lph.

If you are confident in the filtration power of the 2075, but want water water flow, perhaps try a Wavemaker 12000 (they do less powerful powerheads too) for ~£30 on Ebay from somewhere like "All Pond Solutions."

Ok where do I put the outlet of the powerhead? The same direction as the main filter?

Blowing towards the inlet hose, while allowing the current to pick up "rubbish" from the floor of the tank. Its too early for me to judge, but I've now got my outlet and inlet pipes for the 2078 on opposite corners of the 5x2x2, as this is supposed to aid circulation.

I use my power heads mostly just to circulate the water in the tank and avoid having spots with no flow. I also use some to power sponge filters rather than rely on air to drive the filter flows. I have 3 coming right now from an on line sales source so that I can use them to power various things in my tanks. I had allowed my self to run out of spares by using them up in various tanks and I like to have some spares. It must be tough times because I "won" 3 auctions in the space of 2 days with a single bid on each auction that barely surpassed the minimums on each auction. In the past I had to babysit each auction as it drew to a close to have any chance of winning one. I was quite surprised because I had hoped to win one of the three without spending too much time watching the sales. Who doesn't have better things to do than try to outwit another bidder at the last minute?

hahaha that sucks that you have to purchase them all at one go. But at least look on the bright side that you will have spares ;)

You are only supposed to have 1 fine filter in there - take one out that should improve the flow
