Hey all

just want your opinion on an eheim 2217 canister filter for a 4ft tank?
will it be any good?
is the canister good?
will 1 be enough for the tank or is there any other products that is around the $200 mark

Thanks all :D

I have a 4ft 75 gallon, and a 4 foot 50 gallon both with the 2217 installed, the filter works like a charm I've had no problems since the summer and I've read stories of people having them 10+ years without a fail. Priming is easy ( theres no switch or auto prime though ) and once its full using the quick valves maint is easy

Would you reckon it will work well with sand substrate?
Because my tank has very fine sand

yes, I have Ecco pro 300 and 2213 input and outputs joined and have no sand issues at all. I also have a 2800lph powerhead, plenty of current flowing round and sand hasn't budged

Its fine for the sand as long as you dont point the flow directly at the substrate. The only time my sand moves around is when I aim my 1400gph/5300lph pump a little too low
