I bought a eheim 2215+ from fishfurandfeather, received it today, but its only broken!

2 of the plastic clips/parts that hold the top plastic bit on is broken, filter would probably run fine, but it must have taken one hell of a whack to break it in transit!

was really looking forward to setting it up aswell :(

what would you guys do, send it back or keep it? its a minor part of it, but still, might affect it later on or something i think..

Absolutley 100% send it back. Before you do (if you have a digicam) make sure you take a photo of it. You should also insist on paying no further postage charges and get a new replacement. But ask nicely and diplomatically of course.
Though you are obviously peeved off it might slow things down for you if you rant and rave.

It's a pain I know, but you can't sit with a broken filter or take the chance.
Send them an email straight away explaining the problem.

Good luck !

good idea! thanks! didnt think of that. I hope that eheim will live up to its name after all this! :D

Was the package insured? If so I would say return it. If you had to pay return shipping & then shipping for them to send a new filter I would consider the cost. Agreed it would probably work fine but why pay for a broken item? You could have gotten that used for probably less money. Usually places are happy to exchange but some may require you to pay shipping on the new item. Sometimes if you just ask real nice they will waive all fees. Its worth a shot!

has anyone dealt with www.fishfurfeather.com before for things like this?
if they make me pay the shipping i'll be really pissed off. I could have just gone to the local lfs and bought it!

I honestly don't think there should be any question about who covers the postage fees. As a customer paying good money (in advance for a product I haven't even seen yet), I expect to receive my goods in 100% condition.
It should have been better packaged and it's not my fault that it arrived broken.
I'm sure the retailer will get a full replacement from eheim and will incur no cost for that. Postage they can claim back. That should not be your responsibility.

As a side note - keep the packaging material. They might ask you to send that back too to reclaim postage refunds. Do not throw that away until they say otherwise.

sending them a mail now, didnt realise they dont have phone support! :/

:grr: that would annoy me ! I hope you receive a reply tomorrow.
Let us know. Their website often comes up in my searches and I've looked at them before, so I'd be interested to know how they handle it.

hehe, i did the same ;)

i dont like the fact he hasnt registered under a company and also the phone is a mobile aswell!! :/

don't get too pessimistic yet ;)
they might be horrified that you received a broken filter and can't wait to replace it for you.

If all else fails, you have someone's home address to knock on a door !
