E.m. Erythromycin

I had a case of columnaris in my tank. It was pretty bad and the fish died, before I had a chance to medicate it. The petstore sold me erythromycin. Has anyone experience with it, if I would have to treat my whole tank? How harmful is it to the good bacteria - especially in the bio-filter?

The reason I asked her to post here as not sure if the antibiotic completely wipes beneifical bacteria out in the filter.

yes you cant buy drugs like that in the uk
