Dwarf Platy ?

My LFS has a tank of Dwarf Platies for sale. These are about half the size of regular platies. Are they really dwarf or the result of overcrowded tanks? Has anyone ever heard of them?

Yeah my mum has 2 orange ones they're bout 2 3rdsthe size of my normal ones

They have those at my lfs too. I used to have a couple. No care is different from the regular platy

Cool! I'd love to see some pictures! I've gotta get me some of those. We have dwarf hamsters and Dwarf rabbits . . . even a Mini Pinscher, so why not go for dwarf platy too?

my mum has them to and there orange, bit like a sunset apart from wev had them for a year yet there only an inch and a bit!

HAHA . well I guess a dwarf platy would almost complete your collection. Of course you will also need a shetland sheepdog (mini version of the collie) haha. but anyways I have kept dwarf platies, I actually really liked them they are pretty hardy too. Just the fry dont grow as fast. I dont think I have bred both dwarf and regular platies to adult size.

that sounds like my tank. Dwarf platies, dwarf gourami.... and shrimp. 'course the shrimp aren't dwarf, but their name IS a synonym!
