Im thinking of getting a few Dwarf Freshwater Puffer Fish. However, i need to know more about them to make sure they'll survive in my tank. Ive been doing research, but i want to confirm what i have found and get answers to what i havent.

Questions:
1.) Are they 95% freshwater (1 Tbsp of salt per 10g) (I know some Puffers fine in freshwater at youth, but prefer brackish or even full salt when older.)
2.) Will they survive in a 10 gallon tank with 2 swordtail, 3 small tetras and 4 rasboras?
3.) Can they eat anything? (The sign at the fish store says yes, but making sure)
4.) How many should i get?

Is there anything in particular i should know before getting these?

Answers:
1.) They are 100% freshwater
2.) No, they will harass your other fish and kill them. Best kep in a species tank.
3.) More or less.

have a read of the pinned topic in the "oddballs" section.

1) They dont need any salt at all. So the information you were given is incorrect
2) I'm more than 90% sure they will attack those other fish
3) they will NOT eat flake food. Will eat frozen only

There is a lot of misleading information about these fish.

1) 100% Fresh water

2) Not compatible with most fish

3) Notorious fussy eaters. Will eat live/frozen bloodworms/blackworms/brineshrimp/daphnia and favourite food is live snails.

Pinned articles in oddball section very useful :D

Well, it seems like im gonna need to look at some other fish then.

Would it make any difference all my fish are an inch or longer, and the Puffers are babies like half an inch long? Is there any chance theyll be afraid to harass the larger fish alone then eventually get used to the others even when they grow?

They have no fear, honestly. Size does not make any difference.

o well. Thanks for the very quick answers. I guess im now gonna search for something new. I want something unique and difference from the fish i have (hence wanting the puffer).

Is there a such thing as a dwarf angel fish? I know normal ones would just be too big for my tank.

Dwarf Puffers are so much fun to keep if you can give them their own tank maybe with some very limited choice of tank mates. I keep mine with shrimps.

I don't know anything about angel fish. Hope you find something interesting and suitable for your tank :D
