Hello mates!!
I have some questions about my ducks, I tried to look in books and google but nothing worked, so I said that maybe someone knows or keeps ducks in TFF, some questions are studied in schools but I can't recall the answers. :shifty:
Quistions:
1)-why does one of my ducks gets wet while others don't while swimming in the pond?
2)-how do you know if a Duck is going to lay eggs soon?
3)-why do two of my ducks don't like to get in the pond's water while others enjoy it?
4)-if one of my female Ducks lays eggs will she incubate them or not?

And here are some info on my ducks if it will might help:
1)-some of my ducks are about 10-9 months old, while the others are 7-6 months old.
2)-I feed them lettuce, rice, tomatoes, bread, grains.. And I occasionally feed them feeder fish.
3)- one of my female ducks looks like a wild female mallard, I think most of them are domestic mallards but deferent in coloration.
4)- one of my female duck laid infertile eggs last year ( because there wasn't any males around).
I will be very grateful if anyone answers these questions,I googled them but with no good.
Sorry if I had bohered or wasted anyones time,

what do you mean 'gets wet and others don't'? If a duck is soaked and the water doesn't run off, then that's an issue with the oil the feathers produce.

A duck will sit on her eggs if they are fertile, for that, they need a male. If she is scared or the security of her nest is compromised, she will abandon them.

1 - Google 'Wet feather disease', not sure if it's strictly speaking a disease. More a syndrome, but it could be something your 'wet duck' is suffering from.
2 - Not really sure... I know our ducks layed most days during their prime and particularly in the summer months. I basically just went and collected them whenever they layed... and they were quite happy to only lay in their pen at night.
3 - Some ducks have to be taught not to fear water... in the wild/duck raised ducklings are taught this by their parents. If your little guys are hand raised then there is a chance the person who raised them didn't get them used to water early enough. For some reason if they're not introduced to water early enough it can cause problems with them fearing water. And as your guys don't need to sit on water to be safe it shouldn't be too much of a problem other than with respect to preening. If you look up 'How to raise ducklings' and read a few sites you should find lots of material about introducing ducklings to water, and what happenes if they're introduced later.
An alternative is they are also suffering from wet feather disease so are avoiding water.
But I'm not a duck expert so there may well be more possibilities.
4 - It depends really... I think it varies between species. None of ours ever incubated but then none of ours had the chance to incubate as they'd had their eggs removed from the first day they started laying. They didn't even bother to stay with their eggs, but this may well be different if you have a male in with some girls from the beginning and leave them with their eggs. Eitherways I'd probably choose to raise the ducklings by hand if possible, it's not too hard to do and it's the best way to get tame ducks.

Most of my ducks looks like mallards and sounds like them but they are different in coloration, while one of my female ducks looks exactly like a wild female mallard but she can't fly of course  I hope they will incubate thier eggs... Even though I found an eggs in the middle of the of flowers in our garden, but my mother is NOT happy for that unlike me!! She say that those ducks are land plant eating piranhas LOL!! Oh and by the way how can I know if the eggs are fertile? I want to see my ducks sons and daughters walking infront of me one day, I will never be prouder of my duck ( carmalita is her name).
