Hi all I never have dropsy problem before but until about a weeks ago two of my neon is getting a huge stomach and now they have been put in to a net breeder and seperate from the other. Should I kill them or let them live until they die eventurally. As I know that dropsy r hardly curable. Altho it was just inner organ failure I was afrid it will blow up in my tank. And the rest of my fish will got it as well. What to do?

Can the fish maintain there balance in the water, are scales sticking out like a pinecone, what do you feed the fish as it could also be constipation, try some shelled peas and daphnia, dropsy is only contagious if they die in the tank and the other fish peck at them, also what does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet.
1 of the neon have its scale all sticking up. while another not yet have that sign but his stomach is still bigger then normal. I havent feed any food for now 5 days. before was twice daily and all seems fine ( morning=flake night=bloodwarm). and now I go for 1/3day diet. water stats r all good 0 mostly on amo etc. ph = 8. I cant see them poo since my tank is heavily planted. I will check tonight since they r now in a net breeder in my 25g.
Last stage of dropsy is the pinecone effect so no hope for that one i'm afraid, the other one if you can issolate it could use antibiotic like tetracycline or maracyn 2, and a epson salt bath to help draw he fluids out.
