Hi i have just bought some drift wood (i think thats what they call it) to put in the tank but have been told to soak it for 2 weeks. is this necessary and do i just soak in normal water /

thanks

Tracey

boiling it is a better option removes the crap more but if not then yes soak it for a few days in boiling hot water and change it regulary

yes hot water is best for driftwood to remove the dirt/ grit and tanins that cause your tank water to turn yellow/orange. I soaked mine with regular changes and rubbed it down for 2 days prior to putting it in the tank.

oh and you can use a toothbrush or something with bristles to speed things up

:good: Thanks very much. So no special treatment just boiled water for a few days regular change and a rub with a toothbrush :)

Thanx

you got it :good: Also when buying it's best to look for the less orangey/red looking driftwood.
